LOVE the Green’s founder, Mary Love, has been GREEN all her life. Mary tells everyone, “I love what I do. My work with Love The Green enables me to combine my two passions: helping people find a home and sharing about the numerous ways to make their home and life sustainable.” Mary moved to Asheville, NC in 2003. She worked as a project manager with the WNC Green Building Council, a nonprofit eco building educational alliance. In that capacity, she was instrumental in helping Mountain Housing Opportunities, site and develop, Prospect Terrace , the first NC HealthyBuilt Home Project. At this time Mary was also working as a Realtor and helped the Asheville Board of Realtors to design and implement an Environmental Consultant ECO course that provides education on environmental and sustainable development issues. In Nov. 2008 Mary’s continual quest for learning placed her as one of the first Realtors in the nation to receive the (place hyperlink NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® GREEN Designation http://www.greenresourcecouncil.org/ Mary is now an instructor for the course. At 16, Mary participated in her first community project, working with the Monroe County TN Extension Office trying to resolve a water pollution issue concerning local farmers and spring feed wells. This dedication to helping others has continued for over 30 years. She has worked as a volunteer, board member, and educational consultant for numerous organizations, such as Asheville Home Builders Association, AB Tech, River Link, Warren Wilson and Land of Sky, Southern CA Sierra Club, Long Beach Greenbelt Committee, and Long Beach Organic Garden. Mary has written numerous articles for a variety of programs relating to sustainability, as well as real estate related topics. Ms. Love hosted four environmental shows for local TV in Long Beach, CA. She is an inspiring and entertaining key note speaker and has addressed audiences range from 30 to 400 people. Mary enjoys working with a wide variety of buyers and sellers. She realizes that not everyone is interested in living in a green home, so she gladly offers her professional services to the masses. Her first priority is to listen to her client and try to meet his/her needs. Mary measures her success by how well she’s able to meet her client needs. That philosophy took an especially meaningful turn when she helped her clients from New Orleans purchase a fully furnished home. Mary recalls, “Here was a couple who’d lost everything with Hurricane Katrina, and I was able to help them find a home where they could feel good about starting over. That is what it is all about!” A former big city dweller who grew up in a Tennessee town of 200 residents, Mary finds the best of both worlds in Asheville. She lives with her partner in their “recycled” Energy Star (hyperlink http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=products.es_at_home) certified duplex.
